Dental emergencies happen, especially with active kids. Whether it’s a knocked-out tooth, a sudden toothache, or a broken tooth from a fall, we are here to help. We reserve time in our schedule for dental emergencies and do our best to see your child the same day you call.

Apply a cold compress to reduce pain and swelling. For knocked-out permanent teeth, keep the tooth moist in milk, saliva, or saline. Do not give your child aspirin. Use children's acetaminophen or ibuprofen as directed. Avoid hard or hot foods until the dentist evaluates.
When you arrive, our board-certified pediatric dentists will evaluate your child, take any necessary X-rays, and provide immediate treatment to relieve pain and address the injury. We will explain every step and create a follow-up care plan.

Here is what qualifies as a dental emergency and what to do.
If a permanent tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown, rinse gently, and try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, put it in milk or saliva and call us immediately. For baby teeth, do not reinsert. Call us so we can evaluate.
A toothache can signal a cavity, infection, or other issue. Rinse with warm salt water, apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek, and call our office. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum.
Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Save any tooth fragments if possible and call us for an evaluation.
Facial swelling or a bump on the gums near a tooth may indicate an infection. This requires prompt treatment. Call us right away as infections can spread quickly.
Clean the area gently with water and apply a cold compress. If bleeding does not stop after 15 minutes or the wound is deep, call us or go to the emergency room.
If your child loses a filling or crown, save the piece and call us. We can often reattach or replace it the same day to protect the tooth from further damage or sensitivity.
